Mayawati Signals Aggressive Poll Strategy Ahead of UP Elections

BSP chief reshuffles organization, targets BJP, raises concerns over unemployment and social justice

Anytime News Network  Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati chaired a crucial meeting of party office-bearers from the state, divisional, district and विधानसभा levels to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The high-level बैठक focused on strengthening the organization, accelerating ground-level election readiness and expanding the party’s support base across communities.

During the meeting, Mayawati announced significant organizational reshuffles aimed at giving greater responsibility to committed cadre and mission-driven workers. She emphasized that these changes were necessary to transform “Mission 2027” into a political reality, similar to the party’s landmark success in 2007, and to pave the way for a full-majority BSP government based on the principle of “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay” (welfare of all).

The BSP chief alleged that party workers have been consistently countering the tactics and conspiracies of rival parties and certain “self-serving groups,” but said stronger organizational discipline was required in view of the approaching elections.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP-led government, Mayawati claimed that barring a small section whose interests are being served, people from almost every social group are distressed. She particularly highlighted growing resentment within the Brahmin community over issues of neglect, insecurity and lack of respect, asserting that the BSP had historically ensured dignity, representation and justice for all sections of society.

Mayawati stressed that Uttar Pradesh urgently needs equitable development supported by better roads, electricity, water supply, traffic management, education, healthcare and sustainable employment opportunities. She also criticized the rise of contractual and outsourced employment, stating that it has led to exploitation and weakened essential public services such as schools and hospitals.

Raising concerns about reservation policies, she alleged that anti-reservation attitudes have created obstacles for SC, ST and OBC communities in securing government jobs and promotions. She reiterated that the BSP remains committed to the constitutional vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and to safeguarding the rights, security and dignity of marginalized communities.

On the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati urged authorities to ensure that citizens—especially the poor, laborer’s, women and the uneducated—receive full support in getting their names included in voter lists so that no eligible voter is left out.

The BSP supreme also expressed concern over repeated disruptions in the ongoing Parliament budget session, stating that constant clashes between the government and opposition prevent meaningful debate on critical public issues. She called for constructive discussions that allow citizens to assess facts and hold leaders accountable.

Addressing the media before the meeting, Mayawati said the gathering was convened to issue strategic directions to party leaders, review organisational work and plan efforts to widen public outreach. She warned party members to remain alert against alleged attempts by opponents to weaken the BSP and urged them to focus on issues affecting farmers, workers, traders, minorities and other disadvantaged groups.

Reaffirming her party’s ideological foundation, Mayawati said the BSP stands for inclusive governance, rule of law and social harmony. She urged both central and state governments to move beyond caste- and religion-based politics and priorities public welfare.

With elections drawing closer, the meeting signals BSP’s intent to reassert its political relevance in Uttar Pradesh by combining organizational restructuring with a sharper critique of the ruling establishment.
