Online Adahi Process, Extra Costs Trouble Travelers

Haj pilgrims preparing for the 2026 journey are facing increasing pressure due to stricter regulations and tighter deadlines. As per guidelines issued by the Haj Committee of India, following directives from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, medical screening and vaccination have been made mandatory for all pilgrims.
Authorities have set March 18, 2026, as the deadline for completing medical screening and obtaining fitness certificates, leaving little time for many applicants. Although vaccination can be done up to 10 days before departure, the compressed timeline is creating logistical challenges, particularly for those in remote areas.
The situation is even more complicated for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), who must undergo medical screening in their respective countries and submit proof to state Haj committees. Additionally, all expenses related to medical tests and vaccinations must be borne by the pilgrims themselves, adding financial strain.
Another major change is the mandatory use of the Nusuk Portal for booking Adahi (animal sacrifice). Pilgrims who have not yet opted for this must do so by March 23, 2026, through the official portal.
The shift to digital processes has created difficulties for elderly pilgrims and those unfamiliar with technology. Many are struggling to meet deadlines and navigate online systems, raising concerns about accessibility and preparedness.
Pilgrims have also been instructed to carry original health cards throughout the journey. Overall, the combination of strict rules, financial burden, and procedural complexities is making the Haj preparation process increasingly challenging.
