In a major push towards future-ready education, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the vocational training curriculum under ‘Project Praveen’.
The initiative, led by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Agarwal and UPSDM Mission Director Pulkit Khare, mandates the ‘AI For All’ course for students of Classes 9 to 12 starting from the academic year 2026–27.
Over 1,200 government and aided schools across the state will benefit from this move, directly impacting more than 2 lakh students. ‘Project Praveen’, which already offers 210 hours of free vocational training in sectors like IT, healthcare, electronics, and beauty, will now integrate AI to enhance students’ technological competence.
A dedicated 4-hour AI module has been designed for both students and trainers, focusing on key skills such as problem-solving, data analysis, creativity, and digital literacy. The program aims to equip students with practical knowledge of AI applications relevant to various job roles.
Customized AI modules have also been developed for specific job profiles such as IT customer care, tailoring, healthcare, and digital services, ensuring industry-relevant learning.
To maintain quality training standards, all instructors are required to complete the AI course. Additionally, a one-day online workshop will be conducted on March 28, where AI experts will train educators and provide technical insights.
Officials believe that this initiative marks a transformative step in integrating advanced technology into school education, preparing students to meet global standards and future job demands.
