The Provincial Executive Committee meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Pensioners Welfare Association was successfully held at the PWD Headquarters auditorium. The meeting was chaired by Executive President Anand Prakash Srivastava under the patronage of Ram Sahay Sharma, with participation from office bearers and representatives from nearly 20 districts across the state.
The session, conducted by General Secretary Omkar Nath Tiwari, turned into a powerful platform where pensioners voiced long-pending concerns affecting their financial and social security.
One of the key demands was the inclusion of pension revision in the agenda of the upcoming 8th Central Pay Commission. Pensioners also demanded reduction in the commutation recovery period to 11 years. Additionally, they proposed that the 20% additional pension currently granted at the age of 80 should instead be distributed progressively—5% each at ages 65, 70, and 75.
The issue of 18 months’ pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) arrears, withheld during the COVID-19 period, was strongly raised. Pensioners also sought restoration of concessions in railway and air travel fares, which were available earlier.
Concerns were expressed over inadequate infrastructure in district treasuries, including the need for dedicated pensioners’ rooms. Delays and objections in medical reimbursement claims, along with irregular income tax deductions, were also highlighted.
After detailed deliberations, the association unanimously decided to meet the Chief Minister to present their demands and push for swift resolution.
Several senior members including Vishwanath Dixit, Gopi Krishna Srivastava, Santosh Kumar Mehrotra, and others addressed the gathering.
