Day Two – 21st August, 2025
On Thursday, 21st August 2025, the second day of the Archaeology Appreciation Course comprised four academic sessions.
First Session
In the first session, Dr. Krishnakant, historian, litterateur and educationist, delivered an online lecture on Temple Architecture and Architectural Aspects Described in Sanskrit Literature.
Second & Third Sessions
The second and third sessions were focused on Conservation and Preservation of Monuments.
In the second session, Ms. Pratishtha Sharma, Architect/Project Coordinator, INTACH Conservation Institute, Lucknow, presented a lecture on Conservation of Architectural Heritage. She elaborated on the challenges related to heritage structures in various regions and the remedial conservation methods adopted accordingly.
In the third session, Ms. Anshika, Research Officer, INTACH Conservation Institute, Lucknow, delivered an illustrated lecture on Analysis of Lime Mortar. She discussed the use of materials such as lime and surkhi in lime mortar preparation, their quality parameters, and the various scientific techniques employed for testing.
Fourth Session
The final session highlighted the practical demonstration of problems encountered during conservation works and their possible solutions.
Welcome & Vote of Thanks
On this occasion, Mrs. Renu Dwivedi, Director, Department of Archaeology, Uttar Pradesh, welcomed the guest speakers by presenting floral bouquets and mementoes. The programme was conducted and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Balihari Seth, Publication Assistant.
