Marking a significant step in global youth collaboration, India hosted the first BRICS Youth Coordination Meeting 2026 under its presidency of the BRICS bloc. Organized virtually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on March 25, the meeting saw participation from all member nations.
The session officially launched the BRICS Youth Track 2026 under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” setting the agenda for year-long youth engagement initiatives.
India presented a comprehensive roadmap outlining key activities, including working group meetings, thematic engagements, volunteer programs, youth development forums, youth council meetings, youth summits, and ministerial-level discussions.
During the deliberations, member countries identified priority areas for collaboration such as education and skills development, youth entrepreneurship, science and innovation, social inclusion, health and sports, environmental sustainability, and interfaith dialogue. Youth exchange programs were also emphasized as a vital component of cross-cultural understanding.
Experts believe this initiative goes beyond a routine diplomatic exercise, offering a dynamic platform for empowering young leaders and fostering innovation across BRICS nations. It is expected to strengthen partnerships and create opportunities for youth to actively contribute to global development.
India’s leadership in this initiative is seen as a strategic move to enhance cooperation and position youth at the center of global policymaking.
