Uttar Pradesh has witnessed historic progress in healthcare— deputy Chief minister

*7th Edition of CII UP Health Summit- “Swasth Bharat, Samarth Bharat: Together for a Healthier Future*

CII Uttar Pradesh organised 7th Edition of UP Health Summit- “Swasth Bharat, Samarth Bharat: Together for a Healthier Future” on Friday, 22 August at Lucknow. The summit was graced by policy makers, healthcare professionals, and innovators to discuss the future of healthcare in Uttar Pradesh.

*The Chief Guest of the Summit, Shri Brajesh Pathak, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh* said that over the past seven years, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed historic progress in healthcare—from establishing 17 new medical colleges and strengthening rural health centres, to expanding super-speciality facilities. He added that Uttar Pradesh is committed to ensuring last-mile healthcare delivery through free primary care in rural areas, dedicated Jachha-Bachha Kendras for safe motherhood and child health, digital solutions like the Sanjeevani App, and a strengthened health workforce. Our focus remains on timely, affordable, and quality services, especially for mothers, children, and underserved communities.

*Smt Ritu Maheshwari, Secretary, Dept. of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh* stated during the UP Health Summit that strengthening the state’s health ecosystem requires enhancing service delivery at primary and community health centres. She highlighted that initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and FACTA are enabling digital interventions and data-driven monitoring, helping ensure timely and quality healthcare services for patients. Over the past three years, more than 14 crore ABHA IDs have been created, 68,000+ health facilities registered, 97,000+ health professionals trained, and close to 9.5 crore ABHA-linked health records generated. She also emphasized upskilling community health workers, improving infrastructure, and implementing innovative health technologies to ensure equitable and high-quality healthcare across the state.

 

*Dr Upasana Arora, Chairperson, CII UP & UP Health Summit 2025 and Managing Director, Yashoda Super Specialty Hospitals Pvt Ltd* said that Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a healthcare transformation driven by government initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat expansion, digital health adoption, and new medical colleges, alongside private sector innovation and investment. Emphasizing that healthcare is not only a social priority but also a critical driver of economic growth and employment, she reaffirmed CII’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare ecosystem through policy advocacy, capacity building, and grassroots interve calling for deeper collaboration among government, industry, and academia.ntions, while

 

*Dr Dharminder Nagar, Chairman CII Northern Region Committee on Healthcare & Managing Director, Paras Healthcare* stated that He highlighted the remarkable progress being made in Uttar Pradesh with new medical colleges, digital health interventions, and Ayushman Bharat. Stressing that healthcare is not only a social necessity but also an economic growth driver, Dr Nagar called for transparent, outcome-based public-private partnerships, stable long-term policies, and integrated hub-and-spoke networks to strengthen access, quality, and innovation. He reaffirmed CII’s role as a bridge between government and industry and urged collective action to realize the vision of a “Swasth Bharat, Samarth Bharat.”

*Mr Saurabh Garg, Chairman, POCT Group* said that in order to strengthen the state’s health ecosystem it is important to enhance the healthcare service deliveries at CHCs & PHCs level. He mentioned that POCT group is poised to work in collaboration with CII and government of Uttar Pradesh to empower the primary & community health centres by enabling them with basic infrastructure to bridge the gap of health service demands.

 

*Mr Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, PSI India,* said Health and empowerment complement each other and are mutually dependent. At present, the government has undertaken several significant initiatives in the health sector, including Ayushman Bharat, e-Sanjeevani, U-WIN, PMSMA, and Niramaya. These efforts have helped ensure that quality healthcare services reach every section of society. However, health is not solely the responsibility of the government; it is also the responsibility of every individual to stay healthy and help ensure that government schemes reach everyone. The government is also effectively ensuring the participation of non-governmental organizations and the private sector, which is commendable. In conclusion, my message is clear: our collective aspiration is a healthy India, and our collective goal is a developed India.
