Under the directives of district authorities, the Transport Department Uttar Pradesh has launched a special technical inspection drive for school vehicles in Badaun, running from April 1 to April 15. The initiative aims to ensure the safety of school children and enforce strict compliance with transport regulations.
As part of the campaign, a public portal has been introduced where school operators must upload complete details of their vehicles. This platform enables parents and citizens to access critical information regarding vehicle fitness, registration, and compliance status.
To implement the drive effectively, seven dedicated teams have been deployed across the district. These teams are conducting on-ground inspections in schools, checking vehicle fitness, permits, insurance, and adherence to safety standards. Any discrepancies found are being uploaded directly to the portal, making school authorities accountable for violations.
In parallel enforcement action, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Hariom led a crackdown on violations, penalizing eight overloaded vehicles. A total fine of ₹2.6 lakh was collected and deposited into the government treasury.
Officials have urged school managements to immediately update vehicle details on the portal if pending and strictly avoid using unfit vehicles for transporting students. Compliance with traffic rules and maintaining vehicle fitness has been emphasized as mandatory.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance student safety and bring greater transparency and accountability in school transportation systems.
