DSMNRU Hosts Lecture Series on Modern Chemistry, Focus on Drug Design

The Department of Chemistry at Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University organized a one-day lecture series on “Recent Developments in Chemistry,” drawing enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and faculty members. The event was held in hybrid mode under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Acharya Sanjay Singh.
The session began with an address by coordinator Dr. Pushpendra Singh, followed by insights from Prof. C.K. Dixit, Dean of Science, who highlighted the role of chemistry in modern research and agriculture.
The highlight of the event was a detailed lecture by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Shukla from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute. He explained advanced concepts in drug design, including 3D structural analysis of proteins, DNA, RNA, and protein-ligand complexes, along with the application of NMR spectroscopy in pharmaceutical research.
Another key speaker, Dr. Shailesh Kumar from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, discussed green acid catalysis and sustainable chemical processes, emphasizing environmentally friendly innovations in chemistry.
Chief guest Prof. A.K.S. Chauhan, former professor at Lucknow University, addressed the challenges posed by language barriers in research and encouraged students to overcome them through confidence and continuous practice.
The lecture series served as a platform to connect academic learning with cutting-edge research, inspiring participants to explore new frontiers in chemical sciences and innovation.
