A special programme was organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day by the Niswan wa Qabalat Department of State Takmilut Tib College & Hospital in Lucknow. The event brought together scholars, faculty members and students to discuss the importance of women’s dignity, equality and empowerment.
The chief guest for the programme was Dr Qudus Hashmi, Secretary of Maulana Azad Memorial Academy, Lucknow. He was welcomed by the Head of the Department, Professor Maniram Singh, who appreciated the participation of students and guests in the meaningful celebration.
During the event, several research scholars expressed their views on women’s rights and social equality. Dr Asma stated that instead of celebrating women only on a single day, society should ensure that women receive respect, dignity and equal opportunities in everyday life. Dr Nagma recited a poem titled “Main Naari Hoon,” adding an emotional dimension to the programme.
Dr Fatima highlighted the persistent gender bias in society, pointing out that in many households the birth of a girl child is still not celebrated with the same joy as that of a boy. Dr Aiman Naseem stressed that women’s contributions must receive proper recognition and justice.
Dr Aziza spoke about the need for stronger social systems to ensure women’s safety, while Dr Nawajisha emphasised that every girl child deserves the right to be born and to receive justice. Dr Subul remarked that women should receive opportunities and recognition starting from their own homes.
Dr Rushda encouraged women to support and motivate one another to achieve greater success. Meanwhile, Dr Farheen explained the concept of equality and dignity for women from the perspective of Islam.
Chief guest Dr Qudus Hashmi noted that Islam granted equal status to women centuries ago and urged society to understand and uphold these values in their true spirit.
At the conclusion of the programme, Professor Maniram Singh presented gifts to the participating women and extended warm greetings on International Women’s Day.
