A departmental seminar was conducted today, 17th May 2025, in the Department of Niswan wa Qabalat on the topic “Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (Isqaat-e-Mutad)”. The session was presented by Dr. Aaiysha Khatoon (P.G. Scholar, Batch 2023) in the esteemed presence of Prof. Maniram Singh Sir (Professor & Head of Department), Dr. Mariyam Roqaiya Ma’am (Lecturer) and postgraduate scholars from Batches 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The presentation was comprehensive and covered key aspects such as risk factors, prevalence, etiology and treatment for recurrent pregnancy loss. A notable highlight of the seminar was a video demonstration of the surgical management of cervical incompetence, enhancing the practical understanding. The presentation also included Unani perspectives of Isqaat.
The session concluded with an engaging discussion.
Dr. Mariyam Roqaiya Ma’am queried about the prophylactic, urgent and emergency indications for cervical incompetence and the workup plan for a patient with complaint of recurring pregnancy losses.
Prof. Maniram Singh Sir emphasized the importance of Unani treatment in managing recurrent pregnancy loss and encouraged further exploration of Mizaj-based treatment for Hifazat e Hamal.
Overall, the seminar was informative and academically enriching. It included theoretical and clinical understanding of recurrent pregnancy loss. The interactive nature of the session contributed to critical thinking among the participants.
