Deputy CM’s Visit Highlights Systemic Failures

The ground reality of public healthcare once again came under scrutiny as Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak conducted back-to-back inspections in Lucknow and Sitapur. After an earlier surprise visit to Chinhat CHC, he reached Sidhauli Community Health Centre, where glaring lapses triggered strong reactions.
Poor sanitation, inadequate drinking water facilities, and long patient queues exposed serious shortcomings in the system. Visibly displeased, Brajesh Pathak directed officials to remain on-site until improvements are ensured. He also ordered a notice to the sanitation agency and suspension of one week’s payment.
A major concern emerged at the X-ray unit, where patients were seen waiting in long lines due to non-functional arrangements. Despite available equipment, services were disrupted, forcing the Deputy CM to personally intervene and get the generator started before operations resumed. This incident highlighted deeper operational inefficiencies at the grassroots level.
While the Deputy CM reiterated the government’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services, the situation raises critical questions about implementation. Repeated instances of such lapses suggest that systemic issues persist despite official claims and periodic inspections.
Interactions with patients further revealed dissatisfaction regarding basic facilities and service delivery. The visit, though impactful in terms of immediate action, underscores a larger concern—whether corrective measures will sustain beyond inspections or remain short-term fixes.
As authorities promise accountability and improved standards, the focus now shifts to long-term reforms and consistent monitoring to restore public trust in the healthcare system.
