In a strong move to ensure road safety during the Holi festival, a special enforcement drive was conducted under the directives of the Uttar Pradesh Government and the District Magistrate of Badaun. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement/Administration) Mr. Hariom spearheaded the operation against irregular passenger buses, illegal mining vehicles, and overloaded transporters.

During the intensive checking campaign, eight overloaded goods vehicles involved in illegal mining activities were seized and sent to Faizganj and Bisauli police stations. Additionally, one sleeper bus found operating without adhering to prescribed safety standards was detained and parked at the state transport corporation workshop. Two more buses were challaned for violating transport norms, bringing the total number of buses penalized to three.

The enforcement drive also targeted two-wheeler riders flouting traffic regulations. As many as 18 riders were challaned near Asafpur outpost for riding without helmets, lacking High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), and driving in the wrong direction. One additional challan was issued for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Mr. Hariom has been consistently monitoring and taking action against overloaded vehicles, illegal mining transporters, and unauthorized passenger vehicles operating within and passing through the district. With increased movement during the festive season, authorities have intensified vigilance to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

The administration has appealed to citizens to avoid drunken driving, refrain from overspeeding, and strictly follow traffic regulations. Officials emphasized that true festive celebration lies in ensuring safe journeys for all.

The crackdown sent a strong message to violators, reinforcing that safety norms will not be compromised during festivals or otherwise.
