 Pending Applications Raise Serious Concerns

The ground reality of the state’s flagship “Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan” has exposed serious gaps in execution, particularly by banks. During a high-level review meeting chaired by MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan, alarming details about poor banking performance came to light.

The meeting, held at the Niryaat Bhawan, reviewed progress across Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Devipatan divisions. Data revealed that several private banks have shown zero progress against assigned targets, raising questions about their commitment to government-backed employment initiatives.

Expressing strong displeasure, the minister warned that banks failing to implement government schemes responsibly could face strict action. He even indicated that accounts related to government schemes might be withdrawn from such banks if negligence continues. This stern warning highlights the growing frustration within the administration.

A major concern flagged during the meeting was the large number of pending applications. Delays in approvals and fund disbursement have left many eligible youth waiting, defeating the purpose of the scheme. The minister directed banks to clear all pending cases during special camps scheduled for March 18 and 25, emphasizing urgency and accountability.

He also pushed for a “top-to-bottom approach,” asking banks to proactively identify eligible beneficiaries rather than rejecting applications outright. However, the current backlog raises doubts about the system’s efficiency and intent.

While the government continues to promote self-employment among youth, the sluggish response from banks threatens to derail the initiative. The situation underscores a critical disconnect between policy announcements and on-ground implementation.
