ANYTIME NEWS NETWORK | In a major push to enhance financial security and convenience for Central Government employees, the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Shri M. Nagaraju, inaugurated a special Salary Account Package Facilitation Camp at Jeevan Deep Building, New Delhi, on February 17, 2026. The camp was organized by Punjab National Bank (PNB) in collaboration with all 12 Public Sector Banks (PSBs), marking a coordinated nationwide outreach effort.
The initiative is part of the ‘Salary Account Package for Central Government Employees’ launched by DFS on January 14, 2026. Designed as a comprehensive financial solution, the package integrates Banking, Insurance, and Card services into a single, employee-centric offering.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Nagaraju praised the collaborative efforts of PSBs in building an integrated banking framework tailored to the needs of government employees. He urged employees to actively participate in the facilitation camps being organized across ministries and departments and take full advantage of the customized benefits.
The package offers a zero-balance salary account loaded with enhanced features, including free RTGS/NEFT/UPI transactions, complimentary cheque book facility, concessions on locker rent, and waiver of loan processing charges. Employees can also avail preferential interest rates on home, education, vehicle, and personal loans—providing tangible financial relief.
On the insurance front, the benefits are substantial. The package includes Personal Accident Insurance coverage up to ₹150 lakh, Air Accident Insurance up to ₹200 lakh, permanent total and partial disability cover up to ₹150 lakh, and life insurance benefits up to ₹20 lakh with optional top-up coverage. Additionally, comprehensive medical insurance for employees and their families further strengthens the safety net.
Enhanced debit and credit card privileges are also part of the offering, ensuring greater transactional flexibility and rewards.
As part of the outreach strategy, PSBs have been designated as nodal banks to coordinate with respective ministries and departments to conduct facilitation camps. Several camps have already been organized, with more being scheduled across government offices to maximize participation.
The initiative underscores the Government’s strong commitment to strengthening financial inclusion, improving service delivery, and providing robust financial protection to Central Government employees through the combined efforts of DFS and Public Sector Banks.
