NEW DELHI. Under India’s ongoing landmark 2026 BRICS Presidency, the country has successfully advanced global cooperation in the MSME sector. The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, effectively hosted the 2nd SME Working Group meeting virtually under the BRICS Partnership for New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) track. The core theme of this high-level assembly was “Enhancing Access to Technology for MSMEs.”
As part of India’s strategic vision for its presidency, the Ministry is spearheading three core SME working group meetings alongside the inaugural BRICS MSME Forum. These interactions are specifically designed around three pillars: access to finance, access to technology, and sustainability-oriented development. Following the success of the first meet on April 24, this second session was organized on May 26, 2026.
The deliberations among the BRICS member countries centered heavily on “Leveraging Innovations and Technology Commercialization for MSMEs” and “Up-skilling and Development of Industry-Ready Human Resources.” Delegates highlighted the urgent need for a multi-faceted approach to bridge the existing technological gap through robust digital inclusion and improved technological readiness, allowing small businesses to seamlessly integrate into regional and global value chains.
The meeting proved highly fruitful, emphasizing the role of MSMEs in driving economic growth, substantial job creation, and fostering inclusive community development. Facing similar developmental challenges, the participating nations exchanged invaluable policy frameworks and best practices, solidifying their mutual commitment to building resilient, competitive, and globally compliant MSME ecosystems across all BRICS economies.
