: With the monsoon season approaching, the Uttar Pradesh government has intensified its focus on flood preparedness. A review meeting on flood protection and preparedness was held under the chairmanship of Swatantra Dev Singh at the Irrigation and Water Resources Department auditorium in Lucknow.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the progress of flood protection and prevention works in several districts of the Devipatan and Ayodhya divisions. These included Gonda, Shravasti and Bahraich in Devipatan division, as well as Barabanki, Ayodhya and Ambedkar Nagar in Ayodhya division.

The minister directed officials to ensure that all flood protection works are completed before June 15 so that the state is fully prepared to handle any potential flood situation during the monsoon season. He emphasized that engineers and officials must remain proactive in their respective areas and ensure continuous monitoring of the ongoing projects.

Swatantra Dev Singh also stressed that all flood protection works should be carried out with utmost sensitivity and high quality standards to safeguard the lives and property of the people.

During the meeting, the minister also reviewed the flood control works carried out over the past nine years in these regions and assessed their effectiveness. He instructed officials to evaluate the impact of the earlier works and take additional corrective measures wherever required.

Principal Secretary of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department Anil Garg also addressed the meeting and directed officials to conduct on-site inspections of critical locations in their respective districts. He instructed them to immediately undertake repair and strengthening work wherever necessary.

He further emphasized the need to maintain adequate reserve stock of equipment, materials and other resources to tackle any emergency situation during the flood season. He also stressed that all departments involved in flood management should work in close coordination to ensure swift and effective response in case of disasters.

Senior engineers and officials of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department attended the meeting.
