Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the first ESIC hospital in Ompora, Budgam, marking a significant leap in worker welfare and healthcare access in Jammu & Kashmir. The move is being seen as a major milestone in strengthening social security infrastructure in the region.
The newly launched 30-bed facility, expandable to 100 beds, is expected to directly benefit over 50,000 workers and their families. Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister emphasized that a nation that respects its workforce becomes unstoppable on the path of progress.
Highlighting recent labour reforms, he noted that new labour codes ensure annual health check-ups, minimum wages, and employment security. Through ESIC hospitals, preventive healthcare will now be more accessible, enabling early diagnosis and timely treatment for workers.
The integration of ESIC with Ayushman Bharat has further expanded access to cashless treatment across empanelled hospitals nationwide. This synergy is expected to enhance affordability and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
Mandaviya also pointed out India’s significant progress in social security coverage, which has increased from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% in 2025, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive welfare.
The event also honored workers who contributed to the hospital’s construction, adding a symbolic recognition of their role in nation-building.
This initiative is poised to transform healthcare accessibility in Kashmir while reinforcing the government’s focus on worker dignity, safety, and well-being.
