In a major institutional move to enhance industrial employability among rural youth, the Department of Cane Development, Uttar Pradesh, in strategic collaboration with the Skills Development Network (SDN)—an auxiliary wing of the Wadhwani Foundation—inaugurated a high-impact three-day training conclave. The technical program was officially launched at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Cane Farmers’ Institute, Lucknow, with the Cane Commissioner executing the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The specialized summit, running from July 13 to July 15, 2026, marks the direct implementation of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on corporate skill building.
Developing Master Trainers for Educational Restructuring The primary target of this intensive workshop is to train selected professors and lecturers from institutions managed under the cooperative cane development societies. By transforming these technologically adept educators into certified ‘Master Trainers,’ the state aims to institutionalize a modern vocational curriculum. These educators will assume the responsibility of transferring industry-grade operational knowledge directly to students, thereby upgrading their socio-economic standards.
Strategic Alignment with ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ Mandate During his address, the Cane Commissioner underlined that the overarching objective of this synergy is to foster entrepreneurship and bridge the corporate employment gap. Aligning closely with the national directive of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao,’ the collaborative framework places structural emphasis on the vocational empowerment, tech-savviness, and operational autonomy of female students to prepare them for competitive financial independence.
Sustaining Competency in the Global Marketplace Post-training, these equipped faculties will realign their institutional teaching modules with the demands of national and global markets. This ensures that youth from agro-centric and semi-urban pockets can secure quality placements internationally. The high-profile opening session saw active representation from top-tier administration including Additional Cane Commissioners Abhishek Anand, V.K. Shukla, Dr. V.B. Singh, and Joint Cane Commissioner Satyendra Singh. The inaugural session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Additional Cane Commissioner (Purchase) Vishwesh Kanaujia.
