Scholars Emphasize Role of Pali Literature in Promoting Social Justice and Harmony

Marking Pali Day, the 17th International Conference brought together scholars, researchers, and spiritual thinkers from across the globe to deliberate on “Equality and Brotherhood in Pali Literature.” Hosted at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, the event emerged as a powerful platform for intellectual exchange and cultural dialogue.

The conference was jointly organized by Pali Society of India and Tathagat Buddha Chair, with support from the International Buddhist Research Institute. It showcased the relevance of ancient Pali texts in addressing modern societal challenges.

Delivering the keynote address, Bhante Dr. Tejvaro Mahathero highlighted how Pali traditions form the foundation of global peace, equality, and fraternity. Vice Chancellor Pramod Kumar Sharma emphasized the contemporary relevance of Pali literature in strengthening social harmony.

Distinguished guest Ravindra Panth also attended the event. Academic sessions featured research papers on Buddhist sociology, social justice, communal harmony within the Sangha, and ethical foundations of equality in Pali texts. These discussions opened new academic perspectives while offering meaningful insights for society.

In his message, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that Pali literature is a cornerstone of India’s cultural consciousness and a guiding force for peace and unity. He stressed the importance of connecting this knowledge tradition with the younger generation.

The conference concluded with a strong call to spread the message of equality and brotherhood through Pali literature, marking a significant step toward fostering global understanding and cultural unity.
