In a landmark development for India’s semiconductor ecosystem, the foundation stone of North India’s first semiconductor unit, ‘India Chip’, was laid in Sector-28, Gautam Buddh Nagar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada.
The state-of-the-art semiconductor facility is expected to position Uttar Pradesh as a leading high-tech manufacturing hub while generating large-scale employment opportunities. The project is being viewed as a strategic boost to India’s vision of technological self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Senior representatives from Foxconn’s Semiconductor Business Group and HCL Technologies also attended the event, underlining strong industry collaboration.
Officials highlighted that the ‘India Chip’ unit will strengthen India’s presence in the global semiconductor supply chain and significantly contribute to regional economic growth.
