Legacy of Freedom Echoes in Lucknow: 147th Death Anniversary of Begum Hazrat Mahal Observed

A grand commemorative event marking the 147th death anniversary of Begum Hazrat Mahal was held at Begum Hazrat Mahal Park in Lucknow. Speakers highlighted her pivotal role in India’s First War of Independence, emphasizing how she led the resistance in Awadh against British rule.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi, who described her as a fearless leader who not only governed but also fought bravely on the battlefield. He noted that her sacrifices, including exile from her homeland, remain a symbol of courage and patriotism.
The contributions of other historic figures like Bahadur Shah Zafar, Tipu Sultan, and Siraj ud-Daulah were also remembered. Speakers stressed the importance of educating the younger generation about these heroes to instill a sense of national pride and sacrifice.
The event witnessed participation from dignitaries, academicians, lawyers, students, and citizens, making it a meaningful tribute to one of India’s most iconic freedom fighters.
