Sanjay Seth says startups and MSMEs key drivers of Viksit Bharat 2047 vision

: India’s growing defence capabilities and push for self-reliance took center stage at the North Tech Symposium 2026, where Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth emphasized the critical role of indigenous manufacturing and innovation in strengthening national security.
Addressing the gathering, Seth stated that India’s military strength has been built within its own defence industrial ecosystem. Referring to “Operation Sindoor,” he credited the success of the mission to the courage of the armed forces, supported by advanced indigenous weapons and systems developed within the country.
Highlighting the importance of economic contributors, Seth described MSMEs as the backbone of India’s economy and startups as the nation’s brand ambassadors. He underlined their vital role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” calling them the modern-day Vishwakarmas driving innovation and growth.
The minister also pointed to record defence production and export figures as evidence of a rising, self-reliant India committed to safeguarding its sovereignty. He urged industry leaders to stay ahead in technological advancements, noting that rapid innovation is essential in an era of global uncertainty.
He acknowledged the transformative impact of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and encouraged stakeholders to further accelerate development. The symposium featured over 280 defence industry stalls showcasing cutting-edge technologies, including UAVs, drones, surveillance systems, and other advanced equipment.
Senior military officials and industry leaders also participated, emphasizing collaboration between armed forces and private players to build a future-ready defence ecosystem.
