Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for a two-day state visit to Israel on February 25-26, 2026, at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The visit is being viewed as a significant step toward deepening the already robust and multidimensional strategic partnership between the two nations.
In his departure statement, PM Modi emphasized the remarkable progress achieved in bilateral cooperation across sectors such as science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defense, security, trade, and investment. Discussions with Israeli leadership are expected to focus on expanding collaboration in these areas, alongside deliberations on key regional and global issues.
A historic highlight of the visit will be PM Modi becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Knesset, symbolizing the strength of parliamentary and democratic ties between the two countries. He will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog during the trip.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, acknowledging their role in strengthening bilateral goodwill.
