In a major step toward preserving cultural heritage, the Uttar Pradesh State Archaeology Department has initiated action to bring 41 identified historical sites under state protection. At a high-level meeting held in Lucknow, chaired by Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, approval was granted for 39 of these sites.

Senior officials, including Amit Abhijat, participated in the meeting, aligning the initiative with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The state aims to increase the number of protected monuments from 278 to 300 by 2027.

Jaiveer Singh emphasized that preserving history is essential for safeguarding identity and pride for future generations. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts across departments to ensure effective conservation.

The identified sites include ancient temples, forts, historical structures, and archaeological mounds, some dating back 2,500 to 3,000 years. Key locations include Musa Bagh, Panchmukhi Temple Kanpur, Nageshwar Temple Hardoi, Mahepasi Tila Unnao, Gondwani Temple Jhansi, and Tooti ka Maqbara Rampur.

A key highlight of the plan is the proposed ‘Kushan Trail,’ which will connect sites from the Kushan period to create a unique tourism circuit. Additionally, facilities such as libraries, interpretation centers, and coffee corners are planned to enhance visitor experience.
