The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to begin a major recruitment drive aimed at strengthening public transport services across the state. Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh announced that the recruitment process for nearly 6,500 drivers and conductors will begin by the end of this month.

The announcement was made during a review meeting held at the Transport Corporation headquarters, where the minister assessed the current status of bus operations and departmental performance. According to officials, the recruitment drive will include 3,060 driver positions and 3,614 conductor posts.

The minister stated that the recruitment will help improve the operation of buses across the state and provide better facilities to passengers. With additional staff, the transport department expects to increase operational efficiency and expand services in several regions.

During the meeting, the minister also directed officials to closely monitor the performance of regional offices. He warned that strict action would be taken against Regional Managers and Assistant Regional Managers in areas where complaints are received regarding poor bus operations or declining revenue.

Budget utilisation was another key issue discussed in the meeting. The minister instructed officials to ensure 100 percent utilisation of the allocated budget and accelerate the process of purchasing new buses. Increasing the number of buses, he said, will significantly improve connectivity and transport services for the public across Uttar Pradesh.

Senior officials including Archana Agrawal, Prabhu N Singh, Managing Director of the Transport Corporation, and Special Secretary Transport KP Singh were present at the meeting along with other department representatives.

Officials believe that the recruitment drive and expansion of the bus fleet will not only improve passenger convenience but also strengthen the financial performance of the state transport corporation.
