Workers’ Rights Under Attack, Workers’ Rights Under Attack

   Corporate Agenda Over People?

Anytime News Network . A joint platform of Central Trade Unions (CTUs) and independent sectoral federations has called for a Nationwide General Strike on February 12, 2026, accusing the Central Government of pursuing anti-worker, anti-farmer and pro-corporate policies.

Addressing the media at the Press Club of India, union leaders alleged that the government imposed the four labour codes without stakeholder consultation, violating international labour standards. They warned that these laws would weaken collective bargaining, restrict the right to strike and push nearly 70% of industries outside labour law coverage, leaving workers vulnerable to exploitation.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha and agricultural workers’ unions have extended full support, particularly opposing the dilution of MGNREGA and policies seen as corporatising agriculture. The unions accused the government of abandoning the welfare state model in favour of corporate interests.

The strike comes amid rising unemployment, unfilled vacancies and aggressive privatisation of public sector units including banks, insurance, energy and transport. Union leaders described February 12 as a **decisive resistance against economic injustice and democratic erosion
