National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division) Regional Office Lucknow, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India ‘Annual Survey of Industries, ASI’ and ‘Capital Expenditure – One day round table conference under ‘CAPEX’ The event was held on October 29, 2025 in the auditorium of the Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council, Center for Excellence and Training, Sector 14, Indira Nagar, Lucknow. The conference was presided over by the guest of honour, Mrs. Alka Bahuguna Dhaundiyal, Director, Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Smt. Dr. Suchita Gupta, Deputy Director General, State Capital Regional Office, Lucknow, National Statistical Office, Uttar Pradesh and other senior officers from other regional/sub-regional offices participated.
Industrial organizations of Uttar Pradesh participated in the conference. Shri D.K. Mishra, General Secretary, ASSOCHAM, K. K. Agarwaal, Udit Azaad and Sumit Jaiswal IIA, Shri Shailendra Kumar, Sr. Assistant Director, FICCI, Shri Shailendra Shrivastava, PHDCC, Ms. Pallavi Dubey, Dy. Director, Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and representatives from large manufacturing units like Banaskatha Dairy Cooperative (Amul), Shri Rupesh Jha from Tata Motors, Shri Sanjay Bajpayee, Spipick Foods (Goldiee Masale), Sh. Gopal Sharma, JK Cement and other industrial associations and large manufacturing units participated in the conference.
Mrs. Alka Bahuguna Dhaundiyal, Director, Department of Economics and Statistics, highlighted the importance of Annual Survey of Industries data in policy formulation by government. Shri Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director General, Central Zone, Lucknow, National Statistical Office, Uttar Pradesh highlighted the role of timeliness of data and appealed the industries to support the compilation of ASI and CAPEX return on time.
Along with information about the new portal of Annual Survey of Industries by the aim and objectives of the survey were explained and the contribution of National Statistical Office in relation to industrial statistics in the Indian economy was highlighted. In the conference , the industrial units and industrial organizations were made aware of the importance of the data collected by CAPEX and ASI survey and their responsibilities towards these data by Deputy Director General, State Capital Regional Office, Lucknow. Along with this, awareness was created about the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008. The problems faced by factory units in the compilation of ASI returns and the compilation of various sections of ASI returns were discussed. The representatives of industrial organizations present in this round table conference of Annual Industry Survey assured full cooperation from the industrial units in filling the Annual Industry Survey returns on time. Doubts and clarification were given by Sh. Purushottam Verma, Director, Central Zone and Mrs. Dimple Yadav, Assistant Director, State Capital Regional Office, Lucknow. In the technical session, Mr. Vikas Singh, Mr. Manish Gupta, Mrs. Shivani Saxena and Mr. Ravendra Pratap Singh, senior statistical officers from the office, threw light on various aspects of Annual Industry Survey. At the end of the program, Ms. Anshika Bajpai, Assistant Director, State Capital Regional Office, Lucknow gave the vote of thanks.
