PNB Salutes the Golden Heroes Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh Honoured for Stellar Asian Games 2026 Performance

: Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, honoured two of Indian hockey’s celebrated stars—Olympians and Arjuna Award winners Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh—for their outstanding performances at the Asian Games 2026.

A special felicitation ceremony was organised at PNB’s Corporate Office in Sector 10, Dwarka, New Delhi, where PNB Managing Director and CEO Ashok Chandra honoured the two champions. The event also featured an interactive session with the players, offering an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and hear about their sporting journey.

A Decisive Strike.

India’s thrilling 4-3 semifinal victory over traditional rivals Pakistan at the Asian Games 2026 became one of the defining moments of the tournament. Abhishek played a crucial role, scoring the decisive goal in the 60th minute to send India into the final.

His performance under immense pressure once again highlighted his ability to deliver when the stakes are at their highest.

Gold on the Big Stage.

In the final, India produced a dominant 5-1 victory over Malaysia to clinch the gold medal. Sukhjeet Singh made a significant contribution to the team’s success, helping India secure the Asian Games title and a direct qualification berth for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Pride of the PNB Family.

Both players are valued employees of PNB and senior members of the bank’s hockey team. PNB also operates a dedicated hockey academy aimed at identifying, nurturing and developing hockey talent at the grassroots level across the country.

Champions with Credentials.

Abhishek is a Commonwealth Games 2022 silver medallist, Asian Games 2022 gold medallist and participant at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He was also part of India’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 gold-medal-winning campaign and was named ‘Player of the Tournament’ at the Asia Cup 2025.

Sukhjeet Singh is a Commonwealth Games 2022 silver medallist and Asian Games 2022 gold medallist. He was part of India’s gold-medal-winning Asian Champions Trophy campaigns in 2023 and 2024 and represented India at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

A Proud Moment.

Speaking at the felicitation, PNB MD and CEO Ashok Chandra said the bank was immensely proud of the achievements of its hockey stars. He described their performance, particularly their contribution in the high-pressure semifinal against Pakistan, as a testament to their skill, determination and dedication to the sport.

He said their remarkable performances had brought immense pride to Indian hockey and the entire PNB family, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting hockey and other sporting disciplines.
