MoU Signed Between ICDS and Adani Foundation for “Suposhan Project”

ANYTIME NEWS NETWORK: In a significant step towards strengthening nutrition services, the Department of Child Development and Nutrition (ICDS) signed an MoU with the Adani Foundation for the implementation of the “Suposhan Project” in Sonbhadra district. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Minister Baby Rani Maurya.

Focus on Children and Mothers

The Suposhan Project aims to combat malnutrition among children aged 0–5 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The initiative will provide technical and implementation support in coordination with existing ICDS systems.

Special emphasis will be placed on identifying and managing Wasting, Underweight, and Stunting among children. Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children will be identified in a timely manner and linked to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres and healthcare services.

Capacity Building & Community Awareness

The Adani Foundation will conduct training and capacity-building programs for Anganwadi workers, focusing on Behaviour Change Communication (BCC), nutrition counselling, and growth monitoring. Community awareness drives, anemia control counselling for adolescents, and maternal-child health campaigns will also be organized.

Notably, the project is a Non-Financial proposal and will function through convergence with departmental resources and structures.

Government’s Commitment

Minister Baby Rani Maurya reiterated that eliminating malnutrition remains a top priority of the state government. Officials expressed confidence that this partnership will deliver measurable outcomes and strengthen nutrition security in Sonbhadra.
