Lucknow became the center of cinematic excitement as the teaser of India’s first AI–live action female superhero film Bijuriya was unveiled at a grand event on February 24, 2026. The film has already generated buzz for its innovative blend of artificial intelligence and live-action storytelling, combined with a strong theme of women empowerment.
‘Bijuriya’ narrates the inspiring journey of Divya, an ordinary young woman grappling with self-doubt and societal discrimination. Her life transforms after meeting Tej, a scientifically driven and fearless young innovator who helps her unlock her inner strength. As Divya evolves into ‘Bijuriya,’ she emerges as a symbol of courage, fighting social evils and crime while inspiring women to rise above limitations imposed by society.
Director Sharib Raza described the project as a pathbreaking cinematic experiment. He stated that the use of AI technology alongside live-action sequences will offer audiences a visually dynamic and emotionally powerful experience. According to him, the film aims not only to entertain but also to spark conversations around gender equality and self-belief.
The lead role is portrayed by Lucknow-based actress Kanchan Awasthi, who called the film a milestone in her career. With roots in theatre and experience in multiple film and television projects, Awasthi expressed pride in being part of a project that promotes empowerment through storytelling. She also shared her personal journey of overcoming societal hesitation and earning her family’s unwavering support.
The launch event was attended by Indian Film Academy co-founder Dinesh Sehgal, who praised the film’s innovative vision and socially relevant message. He highlighted that merging AI technology with a powerful narrative reflects the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
Produced by Full Frame Films and Jai Shri Madhav Creations, the film is set to begin shooting on April 1, 2026. The 30–35 day shooting schedule will cover key locations across Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow and Agra. The makers aim to wrap up production by December 2026.
More than a superhero film, ‘Bijuriya’ positions itself as a powerful statement on resilience, intelligence, and the limitless potential of women in modern India.
