The seven-day special camp organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony on March 13 at the Ramleela Ground Aishbagh. The final day of the camp reflected a powerful blend of community service, creativity and youth participation.
The day began with NSS volunteers cleaning the camp site as part of their commitment to social responsibility. Students also created impactful posters on the theme of de-addiction, spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse in society. Following this, volunteers prepared the venue for the grand closing ceremony.
The second session of the day witnessed a well-organized cultural and academic event attended by distinguished guests. The program began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati by the college principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay along with the chief guest Prof. Manoj Pandey, President of LUACTA.
Students presented a variety of cultural performances including group dances on folk songs, a dance on Ganesh Vandana, short plays, speeches and a lively presentation on the NSS theme song. Their performances highlighted social awareness, cultural values and teamwork developed during the camp.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay emphasized that the handicrafts and skill-based training provided during the camp could become a source of livelihood for students in the future. She encouraged them to adopt these skills as tools for self-reliance and financial independence.
Chief guest Prof. Manoj Pandey remarked that the perception of women has changed dramatically over time. He said the traditional phrase describing women as weak is now outdated, as modern women are proving their capabilities and leadership in every field.
During the ceremony, NSS program officers including Dr. Shweta Upadhyay, Dr. Manisha Badounia, Dr. Chandan Maurya and Kumari Diksha appreciated the discipline, dedication and active participation shown by the volunteers throughout the camp.
The event concluded with an exhibition of creative artworks prepared by the students during skill-development workshops. Outstanding performers were awarded medals and certificates, and the program ended with the collective singing of Vande Mataram.
