Veteran Academician Highlights Excellence in Teaching, Research and Medical Education

: Eminent Unani scholar Prof. M. A. Jafri, former Director of the National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Bengaluru, and former Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, was accorded a grand welcome during his visit to the Government Takmil-ut-Tib College, Lucknow. A special academic lecture was organized in his honour with participation from faculty members, researchers and students.
Focus on Modern Teaching Methodology
Welcoming the distinguished guest, Principal Prof. Abdul Qavi highlighted Prof. Jafri’s remarkable contribution to Unani education and noted that many faculty members of the institution had received advanced training under his leadership at NIUM Bengaluru.

Delivering a lecture on “Teaching Methodology of Unani Medicine,” Prof. Jafri emphasized scientific research, evidence-based education, and innovative teaching practices. He encouraged young researchers to pursue academic excellence and contribute to the advancement of the Unani system of medicine.
Sharing Inspiring Academic Experiences
Head of the Postgraduate Department Prof. Maniram Singh shared his academic experiences at NIUM, recalling Prof. Jafri’s encouragement and institutional support for research activities. He described the gesture as an example of academic leadership committed to nurturing future scholars.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Shameem Irshad and attended by nearly 150 faculty members, researchers, officials, and students, including Prof. Safia Lokhande, Prof. Zia Baig, Prof. Abdul Hakim, Prof. Mohammad Shakib, Dr. Qadri, and Dr. Abubakar. The event reinforced the importance of quality education, research, and academic collaboration in strengthening the Unani healthcare system.
