Leaders Highlight Role of Women in Financial Sector

On the occasion of the extended celebrations of International Women’s Day, a grand program dedicated to women empowerment was organized in Lucknow by the All India Bank of Baroda Officers Association under the leadership of zonal secretary Sandeep Kumar Singh. The event aimed to recognize the achievements of women and highlight their growing contribution to the banking sector.

The program witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities from different fields. The chief guest of the event was Sushma Kharkwal, Mayor of Lucknow. Among the special guests were transport administration officer of Ayodhya division Ritu Singh, associate director at Apollo Hospital Dr. Neha Negi, Inspector General of Police (Women and Child Safety) Subhash Chandra Dubey, General Manager of Reserve Bank of India Lucknow Shraddha Thakur, Deputy General Manager of Bank of Baroda Nidhi Thakur, and member of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women Ritu Shahi.

Nearly 150 women officers from Bank of Baroda attended the program, reflecting the growing participation of women in the financial sector. The event was anchored by Supriya Gupta, Joint National Treasurer and Zonal Women Coordinator of the association. The ceremony began with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual followed by messages emphasizing women’s empowerment.

In her address, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal praised the increasing participation of women across sectors and particularly appreciated their growing role in banking and financial services. Ritu Singh emphasized the need to strengthen women’s rights, financial independence and gender equality at the workplace.

The event also hosted several discussion sessions on key themes such as “Women Leadership and Financial Inclusion,” “Gender Equality at the Workplace,” and “Career Development Opportunities for Women.” Speakers highlighted that empowering women is not only a social responsibility but also a key driver of economic growth and institutional progress.

The program concluded with a strong message that the vision of a progressive society cannot be achieved without the active participation and leadership of women in every field.
