: In a major development for the cultural community of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi has announced that the academy will distribute its pending awards for the last four years in a single ceremony.
The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by the Akademi’s president Jayant Khot vice president vibha Singh and director Dr Shobhit Nahar. Officials informed that awards for the years 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 will be presented together.
According to the Akademi, a total of 13 awards will be conferred during the ceremony. These include 11 Akademi Awards, one Safdar Hashmi Award and one B M Shah Award. Each awardee will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 along with a citation and a commemorative memento.
The honors will be presented by the Governor at a special ceremony. The date and venue of the event will be announced soon, officials said.
During the press briefing, academy representatives explained that due to various administrative and logistical reasons, the awards could not be distributed over the past four years. The decision to present all pending awards together has been taken to ensure that deserving artists receive recognition for their contributions to the cultural landscape of the state.
Officials also emphasized that Uttar Pradesh has a rich cultural heritage, and artists working in the fields of music, theatre and performing arts play a vital role in preserving and promoting this legacy. Honoring such artists not only boosts their morale but also strengthens the state’s cultural identity.
Several officials of the academy and representatives from the cultural community were present during the press conference. The announcement has generated enthusiasm among artists and cultural organizations who are eagerly awaiting the upcoming award ceremony.
