The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched the 8th edition of Poshan Pakhwada 2026, reinforcing its commitment to improving child nutrition and early development across the country. This year’s theme, “Maximizing Brain Development in the First Six Years of Life,” highlights the critical importance of early childhood care.
Union Minister Smt. Annapurna Devi emphasized that the first 1,000 days of a child’s life are vital for physical growth, cognitive development, and overall well-being. She stated that ensuring proper nutrition for every child is a collective responsibility and a key step toward achieving a “Developed India.”
Since the launch of Poshan Abhiyaan in 2018, the government has conducted over 150 crore awareness activities and nearly 9.8 crore community-based programs nationwide. With more than 1.4 million Anganwadi centres, services are currently reaching around 89 million beneficiaries.
The campaign focuses on maternal and child nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, play-based learning, and reducing screen time among children. Grassroots workers are actively engaging communities through awareness drives, home visits, and nutrition fairs.
Poshan Pakhwada has evolved into a mass movement, playing a crucial role in India’s mission to eliminate malnutrition and ensure healthier future generations.
