On the occasion of World Hypertension Day 2026, leading medical experts raised serious concerns over the rapidly growing threat of high blood pressure, calling it one of the biggest lifestyle-related health challenges of modern times. The awareness programme, organized under the global theme “Controlling Hypertension Together,” aimed to encourage preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.

Prominent experts including Prof. Rishi Sethi, Prof. Akshyaya Pradhan, Prof. Monika Bhandari, Prof. Akhil Sharma, and Umesh Tripathi addressed the gathering and warned that hypertension is silently affecting millions across all age groups. They stated that stress, unhealthy food habits, lack of exercise, obesity, and poor sleep patterns are major reasons behind the rising number of heart attacks and strokes.

Prof. Rishi Sethi described hypertension as a “silent killer” that damages vital organs without showing early symptoms. He emphasized the need for regular blood pressure monitoring and timely medical consultation. Prof. Monika Bhandari highlighted the alarming rise of hypertension cases among young adults and women, stressing that awareness and lifestyle correction are the strongest defenses.

Doctors advised citizens to reduce salt intake, stay physically active, avoid smoking, and manage stress effectively. The programme also featured free blood pressure screening and health counseling sessions for participants.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by doctors and attendees to spread awareness and work together toward building a healthier society free from the dangers of uncontrolled hypertension.
