Questions Raised Again Over Law and Order in Uttar Pradesh

A shocking firing incident targeting the family of jewellery trader Pradeep Kumar Mittal in Muzaffarnagar has once again triggered serious concerns over law and order in Uttar Pradesh. The attack, in which armed criminals allegedly entered the house and opened fire on women family members, has created panic and anger within the trader community.
Following the incident, BJP Trade Cell State Convenor Vineet Agarwal Sharda visited the victim’s family and later met the injured members at Vivaan Hospital in Meerut. He spoke with doctors and urged them to ensure proper medical treatment for the victims.
Sharda also reportedly spoke to Muzaffarnagar SSP Sanjay Verma over the phone and demanded strict action against the accused. He said that mere arrests would not be enough and that the criminals should face such strong punishment that future offenders would fear committing similar crimes. He also demanded action against anyone allegedly supporting or protecting the accused.
However, the incident has intensified criticism over the state’s law-and-order situation. Political observers and members of the trader community are questioning how criminals could allegedly enter a businessman’s home and carry out such a violent attack despite repeated claims of strict policing and zero tolerance toward crime.
The firing has reportedly left the entire family traumatised and fearful. Many trader associations are expressing anger and concern over growing insecurity among business families. Critics argue that such incidents are damaging public confidence and raising uncomfortable questions about safety in the state.
Sharda stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, attacks on traders would not be tolerated. Still, the incident has fueled debate over whether the administration is doing enough to prevent violent crimes against business communities.
Attention is now focused on the police investigation and whether authorities will deliver swift and visible action against the accused in order to restore confidence among traders and residents.
