Uttar Pradesh Launches API-Based Verification to Protect Genuine Farmers and Eliminate Fraud
Technology to Strengthen Transparency
In a major digital governance initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Sugar Industry & Cane Development Department has launched an API-based verification system to match sugarcane acreage recorded on the Smart Ganna Kisan (SGK) Portal with official land revenue records. The move aims to eliminate fake entries, improve transparency and ensure that only genuine farmers receive the benefits of sugarcane procurement and payment systems.
Large-Scale Training Begins
Following directions from the Cane Commissioner, a virtual training programme was conducted for officials and field staff across the Ayodhya, Devipatan, Gorakhpur and Deoria regions. Deputy Cane Commissioners, District Cane Officers, inspectors, supervisors and society officials were trained on digital mapping, verification procedures and timely implementation of the new system.
First Phase Targets Large Holdings
The first phase of verification will focus on farmers possessing more than one hectare of sugarcane cultivation. Officials believe this targeted exercise will effectively curb fraudulent land declarations and prevent manipulation by organised elements attempting to exploit the system.
63 Information Points for Farmers
Under the campaign, farmers will receive detailed guidance on 63 key aspects related to sugarcane surveys and cane reservation (Satta). Any objections regarding survey records or reservation details will be resolved on the spot, reducing unnecessary visits to government offices and improving service delivery.
Public Participation to Boost Credibility
The department will also involve chairpersons of Cooperative Cane Development Societies and public representatives to ensure transparency and community participation. Officials believe this collaborative approach will increase public confidence in the sugarcane administration system.
Towards a Smarter Agricultural Ecosystem
By integrating digital technology with authenticated land records, Uttar Pradesh is laying the foundation for a smarter, transparent and farmer-centric sugarcane management ecosystem. The initiative is expected to improve survey accuracy, strengthen payment mechanisms, eliminate fraudulent data and safeguard the interests of millions of genuine sugarcane growers across the state.
