Kanpur Gets First N-GEN Smart Post Office at University Campus

In a significant step towards digital transformation of postal services, the first N-GEN (Next Generation) model sub post office in Kanpur region has been inaugurated at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University. The inauguration ceremony was led by Chief Guest Prof. Sudhir Kumar Awasthi along with Pranav Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, Uttar Pradesh Circle, Lucknow.
Welcoming the guests, Ashok Kumar Yadav highlighted that the N-GEN post office is equipped with modern technology and advanced digital services, aimed particularly at meeting the evolving needs of students and young users. He emphasized that the Department of Posts has entered a new era of digital transformation through Advanced Postal Technology (APT).
Pranav Kumar appreciated the university administration for supporting this initiative and praised the students of the Fine Arts Department for creatively enhancing the post office premises. Prof. Awasthi, in his address, stressed the importance of collaboration between universities and the postal department and proposed signing MoUs across institutions in the state.
Registrar Rakesh Kumar Mishra and other dignitaries were also present. Eight students were felicitated for their contribution to the aesthetic development of the facility.
The premises beautifully showcase Kanpur’s heritage with artistic depictions of landmarks like IIT Kanpur, Green Park Stadium, JK Temple, and Lal Imli. A selfie point and Aadhaar service center have also been set up to enhance user experience.
This modern facility is expected to redefine postal services by offering faster, smarter, and user-friendly solutions, especially benefiting students and local residents.
