At a time when geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and global market disruptions continue to challenge economies worldwide, India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing major economies. Reaffirming this confidence, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada inaugurated the Global Business Research Conference (GBRC) 2026 at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).
The conference, themed “Managing Business in a Turbulent Global Environment,” brought together leading academics, policymakers, management experts, researchers, and industry leaders from India and abroad to discuss emerging opportunities and challenges shaping the global business landscape.
Addressing the gathering, Jitin Prasada emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has adopted a long-term vision focused on trade, manufacturing, innovation, and technological advancement. He highlighted the country’s progress in artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, and international trade partnerships as key indicators of India’s growing global influence.
IIFT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi noted that geopolitical shifts, changing trade dynamics, and technological disruptions are rapidly transforming the international business environment. He stressed the increasing importance of evidence-based research and policy recommendations in addressing contemporary economic challenges.
The conference features a series of discussions on internationalization strategies for business schools, the use of AI in management education, entrepreneurship, innovation in higher education, and evolving geopolitical realities. A special session on “BRICS Amid Geopolitical Turbulence in a Multipolar World” attracted significant attention from participants.
Prominent academic leaders from institutions including IIMs, IIT Bombay, ISB, BIMTECH, IIMC, Delhi School of Economics, MDI Gurgaon, and Jindal Global Business School are participating in the event.
Research presentations cover finance, marketing, global trade, operations and supply chain management, information technology, analytics, public policy, and governance. The conference also includes a dedicated doctoral symposium designed to strengthen research quality and foster collaboration among emerging scholars.
Experts believe that conferences like GBRC 2026 will play a vital role in shaping future policy frameworks, enhancing academic collaboration, and supporting India’s ambition to become a leading force in the global economy.
