Vivekananda Polyclinic & Institute of Medical Sciences and Vivekananda Polyclinic School & College of Nursing celebrated International Nurses Day with enthusiasm, dignity and deep respect for the nursing profession. The event paid tribute to nurses for their invaluable contribution to healthcare, compassion and patient care.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Muktinathanand said nurses are not just caregivers but symbols of hope, compassion and humanity. He praised nurses for standing beside patients during moments of pain, fear and uncertainty while offering emotional strength and reassurance.
The celebrations began with ceremonial lamp lighting and Vedic chanting in the presence of Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Singh, senior nursing administrators, faculty members and nursing students. Speakers highlighted the importance of nursing in modern healthcare systems and acknowledged the challenges nurses face, including long working hours and emotional stress.
Senior nursing professionals reflected on the legacy of Florence Nightingale and emphasized that nursing is not merely a profession but a lifelong commitment to humanity. Faculty members encouraged students to uphold discipline, empathy and ethical values while serving society.
The programme also featured motivational talks, cultural performances and a special cake-cutting ceremony honouring the spirit of nursing service. Organisers stated that the event aimed to inspire young nursing students to dedicate themselves to compassionate healthcare and nation-building through selfless service.
The institution praised nurses as the backbone of healthcare services and acknowledged their leadership role in ensuring efficient patient care and hospital management. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments for all participants.
