Lucknow’s Thakurganj TB-cum-Combined Hospital has achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully performing a complex oral cancer surgery on a 40-year-old patient. The achievement reflects the growing capability of government healthcare institutions in handling advanced surgical procedures with precision and expertise.

Early Diagnosis Saved a Life

The patient had been suffering from a persistent ulcer on the side of the tongue that failed to heal despite routine treatment. After clinical examination, ENT specialist Dr. Anitya Srivastava recommended a biopsy, which confirmed oral cancer. Doctors immediately decided to proceed with surgery to prevent further progression of the disease.

Precision Surgery, Positive Recovery

The medical team successfully removed the cancerous lesion and also performed a selective lymph node dissection to minimize the risk of disease spread. The patient responded well after surgery, recovered satisfactorily, and was discharged in stable condition.

Teamwork Behind the Success

The successful operation was carried out by a dedicated team comprising anesthetist Dr. Shahid Ansari, ENT surgeon Dr. Anitya Srivastava, staff nurses Neetu Mishra, Archana Srivastava, Aruna Devi, and the operation theatre support staff.

Hospital Leadership Applauds Medical Team

Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anand Tripathi congratulated the entire team for their remarkable achievement. He emphasized that the hospital’s ENT unit is equipped to perform a wide range of advanced ear, nose, and throat surgeries, providing quality treatment to patients through the public healthcare system.

Timely Screening Can Save Lives

Doctors urged citizens not to ignore persistent ulcers, swelling, or unusual symptoms in the mouth or throat. Early diagnosis and prompt medical intervention remain the most effective weapons against oral cancer, significantly improving treatment outcomes.
