Under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), employees have intensified their protest, signaling a potential escalation if their concerns remain unaddressed. Despite earlier nationwide demonstrations and even a strike, no concrete decision has been taken by the central government, leaving employees disillusioned. According to district convenor Anil Srivastava, the delay reflects a lack of seriousness towards employees’ welfare, further aggravating tensions within the banking sector. Adding to the discontent is the controversial implementation of the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Scale-IV and above officers. Union leaders allege that the move is arbitrary and violates previously agreed terms, creating disparity among staff and undermining collective agreements. In protest, bank employees in Lucknow wore black badges while continuing their duties and staged demonstrations outside branches and offices during lunch hours. The symbolic protest reflects growing dissatisfaction and a warning of stronger actions ahead. Media in-charge Anil Tiwari stated that on May 16, employees nationwide will wear black attire and hold protest meetings. He warned that failure by the government to address the demands could lead to strikes and intensified agitation programs in the coming days.
