A misleading social media claim regarding free bus travel for candidates appearing in the upcoming Sub-Inspector recruitment examination has triggered confusion among thousands of aspirants across Uttar Pradesh.
The viral message suggested that candidates appearing for the Sub-Inspector Civil Police and equivalent posts recruitment examination scheduled on March 14 and 15, 2026, would be allowed to travel free of cost in buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation by simply showing their admit cards.
However, the transport corporation has strongly refuted the claim, calling it completely false and misleading. Anil Kumar, Principal Manager (Operations) at the corporation, clarified that no such order has been issued from the headquarters allowing candidates to travel free of charge on the basis of their admit cards.
According to officials, the spread of such misinformation on social media could create confusion among candidates and lead to unpleasant situations at bus stands and during travel on exam days.
To address the issue, the corporation has instructed all regional and assistant regional managers to ensure widespread clarification through help desks at bus stations. The objective is to prevent misunderstanding among candidates who may otherwise expect free travel services based on the viral message.
In addition, drivers and conductors across the transport network are being informed about the actual situation so that any dispute or misunderstanding with passengers during the examination period can be avoided.
Authorities have also urged candidates to rely only on official announcements and verified information while ignoring unverified posts circulating on social media platforms.
With thousands of aspirants expected to travel to examination centres across the state, officials believe that timely clarification is essential to maintain order and avoid inconvenience during the recruitment process.
