Lucknow: A seminar on the “Impact of Global Economic Slowdown on India” was organized at SRM Business School, Lucknow, under the banner of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The session aimed to make management students aware of the evolving global economic situation and its possible impact on India’s economy.

The keynote speaker for the event was Prof. Manjula Upadhyay, Principal of Navyug Kanya Degree College, Lucknow. During her address, she explained the causes behind the global economic slowdown, the volatility in international markets, and how these changes influence India’s economic growth, industries, trade, and employment.

Prof. Upadhyay highlighted that in the current global scenario, India needs balanced economic policies and a strong focus on innovation in order to maintain its development momentum. She also encouraged students to understand global economic dynamics and use that knowledge to explore new opportunities in the management sector.

At the same time, experts believe that discussions on global economic challenges must also reflect the ground realities faced by young professionals entering the job market. With increasing uncertainty in global markets and rising competition in employment sectors, management students are expected to develop practical insights along with academic knowledge.

The session also emphasized the importance of skill development, entrepreneurship, and innovation as ways to transform economic challenges into opportunities. Students were encouraged to adopt a proactive approach and remain adaptable in a rapidly changing economic environment.

The program was effectively conducted by MBA student Vanshika Mumbai, who introduced the speaker and coordinated the proceedings of the session.

At the conclusion of the event, Associate Professor Dr. Shubhendu Shekhar Shukla delivered the vote of thanks and highlighted the achievements of the MBA department over the past year. MBA Department Head Mrs. Ruchita Chauhan honored Prof. Manjula Upadhyay with a memento as a gesture of appreciation.

Faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar and described it as informative and insightful. However, the broader question remains whether such academic seminars alone are sufficient to prepare management students for the challenges of a rapidly changing global economy.
