Solar-powered initiative empowers women
A step towards sustainable livelihood and self-reliance

In a significant step towards women empowerment, a modern solar-powered ‘Prerna Canteen’ was inaugurated at the Vikas Bhawan premises in Lucknow. The initiative is being operated by the ‘Pragati Women Self-Help Group’ formed under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
The inauguration was carried out by Chief Development Officer Ajay Jain along with representatives from PNB Housing Finance and social organization Anuragini, led by Dr. Praveen Singh Jadaun.
The canteen has been renovated and modernized under the CSR initiative ‘She-Serves’ by PNB Housing Finance Limited. Equipped with modern amenities and powered by solar energy, it stands as a model for sustainable and eco-friendly development. Notably, it is the first solar-powered modern ‘Prerna Canteen’ in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering, CDO Ajay Jain emphasized that such initiatives not only provide financial independence to women but also enhance their confidence and social standing. Representatives from PNB Housing Finance highlighted that the project aims to bring long-term positive change in women’s lives.
Dr. Praveen Singh Jadaun stated that the initiative symbolizes dignity, empowerment, and sustainability. He added that the organization has been working for nearly three decades in areas like women empowerment, water conservation, and rural development.
Rekha Soni, Secretary of the self-help group, expressed her joy, calling it a dream come true. She noted that the canteen will provide a steady income source and improve the livelihoods of the women involved.
The event witnessed the presence of government officials, dignitaries, and a large number of women from self-help groups.
