At the Defence Ministers’ meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held in Bishkek, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a firm message against terrorism, highlighting “Operation Sindoor” as a symbol of India’s unwavering resolve to ensure that terror hubs no longer remain beyond the reach of justice.

Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh emphasized the urgent need for a unified global response to terrorism, separatism, and extremism. He called on member nations to eliminate safe havens for terrorists and reject any political exceptions that weaken collective efforts.

He underlined that terrorism has no nationality or ideology and stressed that all nations must adopt a consistent and uncompromising stance. He also raised concerns over state-sponsored cross-border terrorism, warning that ignoring such threats undermines global peace and stability.

India urged the SCO to take decisive action against entities that support, shelter, or finance terrorism. The Defence Minister highlighted that collective action is essential to transform regional security challenges into opportunities for peace and prosperity.

Reflecting on the broader global context, Rajnath Singh noted the increasing fragmentation and uncertainty in the world order. He called for a renewed focus on cooperation, coexistence, and compassion over conflict and competition.

Invoking the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, he cautioned against retaliatory approaches, stating that “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,” and advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the path forward.

He reiterated that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation has a crucial responsibility not only for regional but also global peace and stability. India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation, mutual respect, and trust among member nations.
