In a major development destined to recalibrate India’s horticultural diplomacy and global trade matrix, the first premium consignment of Uttar Pradesh’s famous ‘Chausa’ mangoes was successfully flagged off for the United Kingdom today. This landmark export has been materialized under the institutional aegis of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) following the operationalization of the India-United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (India-UK CETA).
Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh Flags Off 1,200 Kg Export Consignment Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade, officially flagged off the 1,200 kg consignment of fresh Chausa mangoes from the Directorate of Horticulture on Sapru Marg, Lucknow. Executed by PSPG Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd., this high-value shipment marks the very first mango institutional trade corridor opened under the newly implemented CETA trade architecture.
Zero-Duty Advantage: Transforming Grassroots Agri-Economics Under the bilateral India-UK CETA pact, the United Kingdom has extended absolute duty-free market access to nearly 99 percent of India’s export value, encompassing crucial agricultural, horticultural, and food processing items. This zero-duty leverage will drastically eliminate structural landing barriers, optimizing profit margins directly for local farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and rural agro-entrepreneurs by linking them directly to high-end international buyers.
Jewar Airport as an Export Catalyst; Logistics Network Penetrates Blocks Highlighting the structural and infrastructure transformations, Horticulture Minister Shri Dinesh Pratap Singh stated, “The specialized connectivity provided by the upcoming airport at Jewar will revolutionize agro-logistics by supporting dedicated cargo operations, severely slashing freight costs.” He emphasized that due to targeted policy interventions, the state has successfully decentralized the export ecosystem, grooming domestic exporters across almost all 825 development blocks of Uttar Pradesh.
UP’s Horticultural Superiority Gains Steady Global Footprint The newly established Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Export Promotion Board has systematically streamlined global trade channels for regional produce. The Minister remarked that after successfully establishing steady market dominance of ‘Dasheri’ mangoes in prominent international corridors like Dubai and Moscow, the state is aggressively scaling up the global outreach for its surplus output. The ceremony concluded in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Shri B.L. Meena, Director of Horticulture Shri B.P. Ram, and senior delegates from APEDA.
