Escalating academic competition, relentless pressure, isolation, and deep emotional struggles have evolved into severe social challenges for today’s youth. Addressing this critical crisis, Uttar Pradesh ADG STF and ADG (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash underscored that instead of solely burdening young minds with the relentless pursuit of success, society must cultivate an environment of trust, empathy, and safe spaces for open expression.
These insightful remarks were shared during a high-profile panel discussion held in Lucknow to mark the official release of the book ‘Humming Classrooms & Notorious Corridors’, authored by educationist and social activist Devayani Kapoor. Hosted at Universal Booksellers in Gomti Nagar, the event centered around the thought-provoking theme: ‘From Notorious Corridors to Nurturing Cultures: Reimagining Youth, Trust, and Belonging.’ The gathering witnessed active participation from prominent educationists, social activists, journalists, parents, and students.
A Distinguished Panel of Experts: The engaging panel discussion featured ADG Amitabh Yash alongside Carlyle McFarland, former Principal of La Martinière College; Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah, CEO of the Lucknow Farmers Market; and Gaurav Prakash, Partner at Universal Booksellers and former Chairperson of Startup MSME Lucknow. The session was skillfully moderated by the book’s author, Devayani Kapoor.

Addressing Mounting Pressures: Highlighting the devastating impact of mounting academic and social stress, ADG Amitabh Yash pointed out that extreme pressures within professional institutions, coaching hubs, and universities often drive vulnerable youth toward tragic extremes. He noted that such harrowing incidents shake society to its core, forcing a collective introspection on the kind of institutional and emotional environments we are providing. He strongly advocated for structural changes that allow students to share their vulnerabilities without fear of judgment, ensuring they receive timely, reliable support.
Beyond Grades and Degrees: Panelists collectively deliberated on the roots of rising anxiety, alienation, and the deficit of trust among adolescents. They concurred that the ultimate goal of education must transcend traditional boundaries of marks, degrees, and careerist ambitions, incorporating emotional, social, and holistic human development as core pillars of learning.
Author Devayani Kapoor shared that her book acts as a mirror to the hidden struggles, silent battles, and untold stories residing within school corridors and classrooms, asserting that resilient youth can only be nurtured on the bedrock of trust and belonging.
The event commenced with a warm welcome extended by Chander Prakash and Manav Prakash, who presented floral bouquets to the esteemed panelists. Universal Booksellers reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to fostering vibrant intellectual, literary, and cultural dialogues across Lucknow.
